Beard and mustache failures: what to do?

The hair transplant for the beard and mustache is a very popular procedure among men. The procedure can be done in patients over 20 years old and is recommended for those men that desire to have an “unshaved” style of beard but have some flaws or even no beard at all in those area.

Usually scalp hair is used for this reconstruction, but depending on the case we may also use hair from the own patient’s beard (hidden area underneath the chin).

Sideburns reconstruction

The sideburns can also be successfully reconstructed by FUE. The surgery is recommended when there is any natural hair flaw and especially after facial plastic surgery when there are visible scars, hair loss or a hair rarefaction.

The sideburns reconstruction can be done in women too most commonly in those who underwent a face lifting.

FUE Hair Transplant: to the success of your face

The reconstruction of beard, mustache and sideburns can be done in any man that have a good donor zone (head hair).

The surgery is done under local anesthesia, and the hair are extracted from the posterior or lateral zone of the head, by the FUE technique (Follicular Unit Extraction). In the day of the surgery, the skin of the face could be a little bit red and swollen but, after a week, the look it would be natural and without any scar.

There is no pain after the surgery neither after the procedure. For more sensitive patients, a little discomfort could be experienced in the first 24-48 hours but it disappears with common /over-the-counter painkillers.

After 15 days the patient can shave himself as usual.

The hair transplanted would follow in the third week and start to grow again after 3-4 months. The final result can be observed between the 10th and 12th month after the transplant.
